Fairy Tale?

I was on my laptop earlier and I came through a picture that I had saved ages ago, this picture...

Fiona Quinn - Rapunzel
I really love how this looks and feels, its just such a different shoot and I think that it is very beautiful and fits in as inspiration to a lot of things even if it is only for the photography style. I think that Fiona Quinn has really represented it well and that you should go to her website and see if you can gain any inspiration from anything else CLICK HERE!. Below is the shoot for Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.

From seeing this image I thought of maybe doing a fairy tale themed concept? But I think I might try to look at darker fairy tales or ones with twists, mainly looking at the Brother Grimm fairy tales as they are the true endings and versions of the stories. This or either looking at the villains as I don't want my FMP to be all fluffy and light, I'd like it to have a twist, I'd like it to have more depth into it.
Anyways, I came across this shoot by Fiona Quinn and I thought that it was quite inspirational (although it is they fluffy kind of tale image) and I thoughts that a quick blog about it would be a good idea :)

Sleeping Beauty

I really love this shot of Sleeping Beauty, I think that it has been cleverly made and I love how she's bleeding on the finger that she has pricked to!

I really love the styling and I overall find this really inspiring.

Snow White

I really like how this shoot for Snow White, yet how unconventionally it is, it looks more like the evil step-mother don't you think?

The colours are all very bright and vivid and I think the contrast really works.

I hope that this has been inspiring for any project or just interesting to read and look at :) I have added a link for Fiona Quinn's page.

Crazy Talent!

Now I've just been on my facebook account and I have just seen the most amazing photo shoot! It is absolutely breath taking. The colours just pop and it looks so colourful I think this may be due to the Frida Kahlo inspiration but anyway its amazing and you need to check it out! The photographer's name is Elspeth Van Der Hole and I will link you to her page HERE<<< CLICK IT! YOU KNOW YOU WANT TOO

I meet Elspeth a few months ago now completely as a coincidence, but as I like her page and have her photography page as a friend, I have noticed how amazing her work is. She did my first photoshoot for me and this is quite a fun and random story.

I was location scouting for my a place to take my photoshoot for my Cape Project (below) and I went to the Pitcher and Piano in Nottingham just to see if I'd be able to do a photoshoot as it was the perfect location due to the fact that it used to be a church! Anyways, I got told that a photoshoot was taking place already, and as I left there were three girls sat out side and cheekily I  asked whether they would "do a photoshoot for my cape?" and she did and this is a little of what I was sent back.

I was so pleased and really happy by the way that it had turned out, I felt like it made my garment so much stronger as a piece for my portfolio. To add to that, when I have had any interviews this is my first portfolio sheet and the interviewers mention how well made and professional it all looks and that just makes me feel so proud of my work and I really have to thank this girl for everything that she has done! Hopefully in the future I will be working with her on some more projects as I think she is amazing!!

But ENOUGH about me, LOOK at these pictures and let me know what you think!! I know you will TOTES agree!!!! LOVE IT...

The project was done by 2nd year Nottingham Trent students for their conceptual project - "Styling Elective" and this shoot may be used by Nottingham Council to promote the Tropical House! Fingers crossed that it does as if I saw this I would definitely want to go and check this place out! I mean imagine just sitting there just for a little while, it would be complete paradise in the middle of a busy city!

The Selection by Kiera Cass

So I got this book on Wednesday and 3 days later I have finished this wonderful book! Originally I was not going to get this book as it seemed too girly and I just didn't know whether it was for me but after going to the counter at Seven Stories and finding out the the book I had chosen would more than likely dissapoint me I decided that I would go and re-think my book choice and I was advised by a read-a-holic and a lovely lady from the book museum that this book was better than I would think and that I would have a real giggle. So I have to thank her very much and I am going to link you to her blog if you too are a read-a-holic so I suggest you  <CLICK HERE!>

ANYWAYS....

About the Book.

THE SELECTION by Kiera Cass

This book is the bachelor meet Kate and Wills (sort of) with a mash up of the hunger games all in one! I started reading it and I will admit it took me about 3-4 chapters to really get into the story line but once I was, I was hooked! So I guess your wondering what on earth is so good about this book right? Well.....

The selection is about a girl named America who lives in the future and there have been 4 world wars (so I guess in words this of the hunger games and how they are divided into sectors). Now in this kingdom people are in classes from 1-8, one being the king and queen and royal family etc, 2 being the rich and famous, and 8 being the homeless and needy, 6  being the help and 5 (the category that America is) being talented musicians or painters.
So if you have read or seen the Hunger Games thats pretty easy to wrap your head around.

Now everyone is getting excited at the beginning because 'The Selection' has been announced apart from out lead girl (America). Girls from all categories are allowed to enter the lottery for The Selection where thirty-five girls will be chosen to move into the palace and get to know Prince Maxon and become the future Queen. It is aired that America is one of the chosen girls and is to leave immediately. However America is in love with a Six but she is heart broken by the way he broke up with her so in not so many words she is seeing this as a holiday and a way to earn money for her family back home.

America and Prince Maxon become friends immediately after she gives him a good hiding which is hilarious to read! She sees this as good food and a way to sustain her family and in now way wants to get to know Prince Maxon but from the beginnign they make a truce and America become his confidence and they really get to know one another. And it leaves you on a totally exciting cliff-hanger!!

And before I COMPLETELY spoil it for you, you better go and pick up your copy of this book, its a really good read and I cannot wait for the next book to come out!!!

HURRY UP!! please :)

WOW! I have found a totally fun and futuristic designer!!! Franck Sorbier created this dress which was just plain white and then projected different designs on to this one dress and I just love how different and beautiful they all are!!

I totally had to leave my work just to show this because I think its amazing!

Here is the show and a few of my favourite!! ENJOY!

UNLUCKY DIP!!

So I have started my final mini project for college before it gets serious!! Final Major Project starts next month, eeeeeeeeek!!!!

Last week we started an illustration project named Unlucky Dip, it says it all doesn't it? There were 3 boxes and you had to collect an envelope from each box which contained your word, style and designer. I got Book, Futuristic and Markus Lupfer. So currently I am researching all of my words and its quite fun although I was to start off with slightly disappointed with my designer as i had no idea who he was and i couldn't find him on my phone all i could see were jumpers and i was like GREAT!!! but I've surprised myself, I've changed my attitude and realised he fits into my project perfectly especially with his metallic range and I actually like him... WOOOOOP.

And here are my favourite of his designs. Hope you like them as much as I do now, and i have totally learned to be a bit more open minded!! Now I had better go and do my sketchbook

How Long?!

Seriously how long has it been since i have been on my blog?! I'm so useless, but in all fairness i have been extremely busy with college and my university applications. Last time i was on here I had recieved my mini request and questionairre from Westminster University, i have not hear back from them yet but hopefully i will!

I had my first interview on 30th January in Nottingham Trent University and i got an UNCONDITIONAL!!! wooooooo so me and my mum celebrated in style......
Photo: First unconditional offer so mum gets a Moët!!! Hells yeah!!!!!
So Moet anyone? I did, celebrate in style!!

And yesterday I had my interview for Huddersfield University and I am still in love with it, the open plan fashion studio just really made me feel as though I could live there for the next 3 or 4 years of my life... eeeek!! I now just have to wait two whole weeks to find out if i have a place :|
